We start with the tearing off of your old shingles or shakes. Next, we check to make sure there is no water damage or wood defects. It is important to check for these things as we want to install a roof that can be as long-lasting as possible. Checking for proper ventilation, adequate insulation in your attic, and that all of your inner vents are working properly (plumbing vents, kitchen fans, bathroom fans etc.) is crucial at this point. Once this checklist has been done, we can proceed with applying the underlayment on your decking. Typically, it starts with metal edging around the roof eaves, applying an ice and water shield that extends about 6 feet up your roof to handle water protection on unheated areas of your roof, applying tar paper that helps the shingles adhere better and offer another waterproofing on your roof. Shingle installation follows this and wraps up the roofing process.
